1. What do consumers demand/expect from their household products?
They expect them to work well, smell good and be safe. The more people find out what kinds of toxic
chemicals are found in their household products, the more they demand that their cleaners be safe.
People are also demanding that the products they buy support ethical treatment of animals, land and
people.
2. How does Simple Pure Clean satisfy these consumer expectations?
Simple Pure Clean, not only works amazing, I mean really amazing, so much that it surprises me
everyday when someone sends in a testimonial about how great the products work, but then they say
they want to continue cleaning it smells so great… That is so funny… who wants to continue
cleaning??? Our Customers, that’s who! And of course, our cleaners are very effective, non-toxic,
biodegradable, safe for kids, pets and the planet.
3. How have these demands affected the industry?
People are starting to want to know what is in their household products and with good reason… A lot of
chemicals and pesticides are affecting our health and the earth’s health. The Natural Cleaning Product
industry itself…. Is really starting to grow! People are really starting to understand the implications of
using so many chemicals in their lives and switching to Non-toxic and Natural cleaning products.
4. How did the idea for Simple Pure Clean come about?
The original company was actually founded by a friend of mine, LouAnn Brandjes, who had severe
Lupus and needed to use non-toxic and natural products around her house in order to feel okay. So
she made the cleaners, and they worked so well she started offering them to the public and everyone
wanted them, she called them Simple Pure Clean and started an all natural cleaning product
manufacturing company. I wanted to sell them on my website, but wanted to try them first, as I could
not really find cleaning products that worked too well that were all natural… so when I tried these
products, I was so impressed with them, I gave away all my other cleaning products and only used
Simple Pure Clean… when LouAnn decided to sell the company so she could work more with her love
of essential oils, it took my husband Dave and I about a minute to buy it!
5. What special ingredients are used in your products that make them differ from commercial
products?
We go back to the basics, what your Grandma used, and what was used before synthetic chemicals
were made. Ingredients such as vinegar, essential oils, baking soda, washing soda, alcohol from
grain (no poisons added) and other naturally derived ingredients that are not harmful. Simple Pure
Clean has no pesticides or carcinogens in them. They smell amazing (no synthetic fragrances, only
high quality essential oils) are safe and non-toxic to us and the environment.
6. What sectors of the household products market do you see having the most growth/pull on the
industry?
Adding toxic chemicals found in everything from cleaning products to paint to playtime bath foam, really
can be dangerous for our bodies. There are more and more great products coming out that are
effective and safe! I see more and more household products such as cleaning products, personal care
products, paint, building materials, furniture, fabric and in general things around us with no more toxic
chemicals in them. More things made from bio-sustainable materials such as hemp, organic cotton
and bamboo, so we are not cutting down our forests, where so many creatures of our ecosystem
thrive. The less exposed we are to the constant chemicals and carcinogens in our environment, the
more likely we are to have a better quality of life, and less likely to have as many allergies, asthma,
autoimmune disorders, cancer and chemical sensitivities that are plaguing our society today,
especially those who work in the industry, making the products.
7. What growing trends do you see in this industry? And in what ways have these trends impacted
the industry?
We are on the road to a chemical and pesticide free lifestyle, and this is great! I believe more
companies are working toward not only carrying less toxic products, but also toward finding natural raw
materials to replace synthetic chemicals and that can be processed without toxic chemicals. This way
we are supporting the indigenous growth of plants in many areas around the world and we don’t have
to tear down forests to create room for something that does not belong there. The people that work with
these plants have worked with them for generations and know how to work with them, it is part of their
lives. Also more companies are trading fairly, offering fair wages and treating the people and land
ethically, with less waste and pollution. This also translates to anyone else in the industry who comes
in contact with these materials, are not in danger of retaining the toxins in their bodies as they would
with toxic chemicals.
8. What has caused the growth in the household products industry?
I believe people are starting to realize the impact chemicals are having on humans as well as our
environment, and more and more people are getting together and talking about it. Especially where
children are concerned, the rise of asthma, allergies and chemical sensitivities is not a coincidence.
Our kids do not need to be exposed to these products in their homes, in daycare, schools, and
everywhere else they go… their little bodies are not handling it well. People are realizing we don’t need
to kill everything, when we do, bacteria and germs will only come back bigger and stronger and we won’
t be able to fight them off because we are not exposed to them, so our immune systems are not
exercised, they become compromised and could potentially end up sick…The internet has been a
great resource in figuring out what is exactly in all the products we are using… we have access to
Material Safety Data Sheets, which tell us if what we are using is carcinogenic or toxic. The incidence of
the rise of Cancer and lung disease in our janitorial workers speaks for itself. These are the people
who truly need to be using non-toxic and natural products, it is affecting their respiratory systems and
their quality of life … this is a testimonial to what these toxic products are doing to all of us. The
consumer also now knows that we can at the very least, have more control of our own health by
choosing not only to eat well and exercise, but to choose non-toxic and health conscious products for
our homes and bodies. It is time to get on that road to better health, having a more quality, feel good
life… to cherish this precious gift we call life.
